Happy Labor Day and Congratulations!
Coinciding with Labor Day, we are excited to announce that we have reached majority support in the following work areas: Front Desk, Starbucks, Restaurant, and Lobby Attendants. Based on our show of majority support, we have asked our employer – Aimbridge – to voluntarily recognize our union. However, given the anti-union nature of their response so far, we doubt they will recognize us this way.
For that reason, we have also filed a petition with the NLRB to hold a secret-ballot election at the hotel for workers in this group to decide whether we want a union. This will likely take place 3-4 weeks from today.
As we move toward an election, we are continuing to support our co-workers in other departments, including room attendants and laundry. When we reach majority support in those areas, we will file for an election there as well. It is our hope that our union will be able to represent all areas of the hotel where workers are interested.
