We are Buffalo Hyatt Workers United
Last fall, we attempted to organize a union in order to have a voice on the job. We work hard to provide top-quality service to our guests, but in order to do that, we need to be able to advocate for ourselves and make our workplace better.
Unfortunately, management responded with a vicious anti-union campaign. They fired, threatened, and ostracized union supporters. Many were fired, and many more were pushed to quit as a result of management abuse and mistreatment. Without hope for a fair election, we pulled our petition.
This summer, you will find us picketing outside the hotel!
That’s because Region 3 of the NLRB just issued a complaint against the Hyatt, calling on the hotel to end their union-busting and reinstate the fired workers. They are even pursuing a rare “Gissel” bargaining order, requiring the hotel to recognize our union and bargain with us.
However, the legal process is lengthy and uncertain. When an employer like ours refuses to recognize our right to organize, it is ultimately up to us and our community to hold them accountable. We hope to see you standing with us!
